The first application of mascara is to the top of the upper lashes before any shadow is applied. This allows the mascara to set and prevents smearing and smudging. Let set 10-15 seconds. The final application of mascara is to the bottom of the upper lash and to the top of the lash, after shadow and eyeliner have been applied. Normal application should also include the lower lashes. Special Note: For some women, little or no mascara on the lower lashes may be best to de-emphasize dark circles or heavy lines. Mascara on the lower lashes will tend to accentuate these flaws.
